China toughens ban on eating endangered animals

China recently tightened its laws on the sale, purchase, and production of its state-protected animals for food. Starting 2017, those caught with the animals would face criminal penalties, according to reports. Two years ago, China had passed a law stating that consumption of rare wild animals would result in a maximum jail sentence of ten years.
